Polycystic Ovarian Disease
Polycystic ovarian disease is a condition associated with various skin problems including acne and excessive hair growth (hirsutism), irregularity of periods, lack of ovulation, weight gain, infertility and miscarriage.
I have been actively conducting research into various new forms of treatment of this condition including the use of a hormone called metformin and a simple form of surgery called laparoscopic ovarian diathermy/drilling.
Laparoscopic ovarian diathermy is as effective as fertility injection (gonadotrophin) treatment but it is less likely to result in twin pregnancy and is more cost effective. I have produced many reports on laparoscopic ovarian diathermy and lectured extensively on the subject including the refinement of the surgical techniques (click here for my publications on polycystic ovarian disease)
