Early Pregnancy
Various problems may occur during the early weeks of pregnancy including bleeding, pain, miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. Ultrasound and hormone tests are useful investigations to confirm the normality of the pregnancy (click here for my publications on early pregnancy problem/ectopic pregnancy)
If you experience bleeding or pain during the first few weeks of your pregnancy, or if you are worried about miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy you could make contact and request an urgent appointment which is often possible within 24 hours. An ultrasound examination will be carried out at the time of your appointment to confirm if the pregnancy is normal.
You may also make an appointment if:
- you are not sure about how far on you are in your pregnancy
- you have a history of miscarriage(s) and would like to be monitored
- you consider yourself at a high risk of ectopic pregnancy because you have a history of the condition and have previously undergone tubal surgery
- because you have certain gynaecological conditions such as uterine fibroid or congenital uterine anomaly
- you wish to discuss problems in your previous pregnancy or delivery
- you would like to consider private antenatal care or delivery
I have a particular interest in the outcome of pregnancy in women with a history of infertility or recurrent miscarriage (click here for my publications on pregnancy outcome in women with a history of infertility or recurrent miscarriage)
